MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
As mentioned in my 'about me' page, I have a strong passion for teaching. I have been fortunate enough to have opportunities to pursue this profession at university, exposing myself to the industry in the meantime, through tutoring and teaching dancing.

In doing so, I have been able to form my teaching philosophy, which gives me a strong sense of purpose and drive to do what I do every day. These are the core values I aim to uphold as a teacher in my pedagogy:

inclusivity. As a teacher, I will make sure to implement inclusive practice and methods into every lesson I plan and every activity I undertake. This is greatly important to ensure diversity is appreciated and minority groups are supported, especially students with special needs that require extra attention and differentiated strategies.
equity and equal access to education. In the wise words of Sir Francis Bacon (1597) "knowledge itself is power". This quote has greatly resonated with me throughout my time as an aspiring teacher, as it emphasises the importance and significance of education. Education is an invaluable and arguably, the most powerful tool one can access, so I aim to create equal access to education for as many students I can. My pedagogical practice will be underpinned by this core value, as I try to make education as fair and accessible as possible.
innovation and open-mindedness. Education is a rapidly and constantly-evolving industry, which means that teachers need to be open-minded to learning and implementing new practices and strategies, as well as technology and resources, in their practice. This is imperative in maximising both the teaching experience, as well as enriching the learning and knowledge of students across each and every discipline.
In my study of teaching and education, I will continually refer back to the core values of my teaching philosophy, especially when understanding and working to meet the Graduate Teacher Standards.
